Hawkeye Challenge Recap
Nightly Recap:
In Heat 1, Luke Lane took the win after starting in the second position.
In the 15-lap A Feature, Jeff Wilke led the first 6 laps while Lane, who started 4th, searched for momentum on the high side of the speedway. On lap 7, Lane cleared Wilke for the lead by .17 seconds. Wilke kept the pressure on and remained close for the rest of the race, keeping the gap to the lead under 1 second, but Lane held him off to take the victory. Wilke finished second, Joshua Jones third, followed by Tim Young, Derrike Clark, and Deke Brooks.
By driving from 4th to 1st, Lane also picked up the Track Threads Seam Ripper award. Tim Young received the Tough Break award after losing 2 positions in the feature, and Deke Brooks earned the Long Strike award for traveling the furthest distance to compete with the Sprint Kings.
Congratulations to Luke Lane and the #9 team on the clean sweep, and thank you to all the drivers for putting on a clean show.
Additionally, Luke Lane, Tim Young, Josh Jones, and Derrike Clark all took the chance to represent the Sprint Kings in the Hawkeye Challenge. The racing was wild and crazy, and after some fallout occurred among the other competitors without a yellow flag to rejoin the field, Luke Lane was the only Sprint Kings driver left to complete the event.
