Heartland Modified Tour Results
WINSTON, Mo. (July 5, 2026)—July 3rd, 2026 brought Friday Night Lights to I-35 Speedway, as we welcomed the Heartland Modified Tour for the second day of their Heartland Freedom Weekend. With 70 cars registered, including 30 HMT Modifieds, there was plenty of racing action to take place.
It’s been just over two months since Gavin Bartel made the trek down from Minnesota in the Hobby Stocks, where he got the feature win on May 2nd. Friday night he picked up his third feature win at I-35 this season. Bartel, who won heat #2, had to battle with last year’s track champion and current Hobby Stock points leader Shaun Wirtz. Wirtz won heat #1 but would have to come home first runner up in the feature. Brad Chumbly came home third, followed by AJ Sayers in fourth and Clint Baker in fifth. Tyler Brown finished in sixth and finds himself only 15 points behind Wirtz for the points lead in the USRA Hobby Stocks.
E-Mod points leader Garrett Stonum picked up his second feature win of the season Friday night at I-35. Stonum, who also picked up the victory in heat race #1, would have to hold off two very fast cars, with heat #2 winner James Silkwood and recent feature winner Blake Hayes trying to run him down. Silkwood and Hayes would come home second and third respectively, followed by Johnny Eads and Zach Pride with a great run to finish in fifth. Heat #3 winner Mark Anderson would finish in seventh.
In the USRA Tuners Samuel Moore would sweep the evening for his fourth feature win of the year. Moore won the sole heat for the Tuners as well, but had his hands full in the feature from the 31 of Brad Mick. Mick would have to settle for second, while Joshua Robb, Mike King, and Devon Matthews rounded out the top five.
Last but certainly not least for feature action the USRA Modifieds and Heartland Modified Tour rolled out onto the speedway. Tanner Mullens made it 2/3 days with a victory during the Heartland Freedom Weekend, as he was first to the checkered after a 25 lap feature. Mullens won at Lucas Oil Thursday and grabbed the victory in heat #4 for the Modifieds too. Gary Christian, heat #3 winner, gave chase all feature long to Mullens, and had a few opportunities with lap traffic to make a move, but cautions and the cards would not fall his way as he came home first runner up. Keith Foss won heat #1 but would have to settle for third in the feature. Cole Campbell and Tyler Davis rounded out the top five, while heat #2 winner Jason Hughes finished in ninth. Steven Glenn won the B feature but would have bad luck in the main show, finishing 25th.

Heartland Modified Touring Series feature race had Dean Wille start on the front row and drive away with the feature win. Wille was challenged late, when a caution flew with six laps to go. Tanner Mullens put the pressure on in his attempt to sweep this Freedom weekend of racing, but would come up one spot short and finish in second. Trevor Hughes in third, Dustin Hodges in fourth and Tyler Davis had a strong night and earned a top-five finish.
The USRA Tuners kept the action going with Brad Mick getting to the front quickly in tonight's feature and not looking back, collecting his third feature win on the 2026 season. Samuel Moore crossed the line second, JR Curtis third, Jermey Sims in fourth and Joshua Robb in fifth.
The USRA B-Mod feature had Jake Richards start from the pole and stay there all race long, collecting his 2nd feature win this season at I-35 Speedway. Richards was challenged in the closing laps by Cayden Stayce, but ultimately Stayce would finish second, Chad Clancy in third, John Ross fourth and Colby Burge fifth.
The weekend was capped off with the USRA Stock Cars, as Chris Dishong continued his blazing hot run, winning his fourth consecutive feature, and fifth total this season. Tyler Cadwalader came home second, Doug Keller in third, Jake Hoover finished fourth, and Mike Miller completed the top five.
Thank you to everyone who made this holiday weekend of racing happen. From the track officials and safety crews, to the concession stand and Trackside Bar & Grill. Thank you to everyone from the Heartland Modified Touring Series for all their time and help putting on two awesome feature races this weekend. We hope to see everyone next Saturday night for another action packed night of dirt track racing!
