I-35 Speedway Hosts Coca-Cola Night, Memorial Features, and Show Me Vintage Racing on August 22

WINSTON, Mo. (August 17, 2026)—This Saturday, August 22, 2026, I-35 Speedway will host Scobee Powerline Construction and Atlantic Bottling Coca-Cola Night, featuring the Mike Tanner Memorial, Bud Wilson Memorial, and Show Me Vintage Racing. Mike Tanner and Bud Wilson were friends and drivers who helped shape the sport into what it is today. Show Me Vintage will also make its second appearance at the legendary racetrack. Late Models will take a one-week break, moving from August 22 to August 29. Along with USRA Hobby Stocks and USRA B-Mods, the night will include USRA Modifieds, USRA Stock Cars, USRA Tuners, E-Mods, and Beginner Tuners.

The third time is the charm as I-35 Speedway makes its third attempt to complete the Mike Tanner Memorial for Hobby Stocks, paying $1,020 to win and $200 to start.

The Finish Strong Mike Tanner Memorial is a special I-35 Speedway event and an important fundraiser for the Finish Strong Foundation in Mike Tanner’s memory. Mike was a racer, competitor, teacher, mentor, coach, sponsor, devoted husband, and father whose life ended unexpectedly on October 20, 2018, at age 40. Bud Wilson also left a lasting mark on the racing community through his love for family, fellow competitors, and the sport. As a competitor, co-worker, father, uncle, son, husband, friend, and organ donor, Bud touched countless lives. Mike Tanner and Bud Wilson meant so much to so many, and their impact continues through the people and racing family they inspired.

Mike Tanner Memorial Hobby Stock Rules

  1. USRA Hobby Stocks must follow the USRA rule book.
  2. IMCA Hobby Stocks must follow the IMCA rule book.
  3. Lakeside Pure Stocks must follow their rules, except they may change gears instead of following a gear-rule restriction if they use a 6200 RPM chip.

Additional Hobby Stock Requirements

  1. Minimum weight: 2,950 pounds.  IMCA cars may add ballast if needed.
  2. Cars with a Holley 4412 carburetor must use an unaltered Wehrs adapter/restrictor plate, part number WM206100R1500. The distance from the bottom of the carburetor to the top of the intake manifold may not exceed 1.25 inches.
  3. Adjustable dual brake master cylinders, if used, must be set in the center position and disabled so they cannot be adjusted from inside the race car.
  4. Hood holes are allowed if permitted by your track or series rules.
  5. No spoilers.
  6. Bead locks are allowed on the right rear only.
  7. Tires must have a minimum durometer reading of 50.

The Hobby Stock feature will include 24 cars. The top 12 drivers in heat-race passing points will transfer automatically, with the top eight redrawing for starting positions on the grandstand side under the flag stand with young fan involvement. The next 10 qualifiers will come from last-chance races, and two provisionals will go to the highest I-35 Speedway season point drivers who do not otherwise qualify.

Updated redraw rule: After heat races, feature lineups will be set by passing points from highest to lowest, with the top four cars redrawing under the flag stand at intermission. Four young race fans will each represent one of the top four passing-point positions. This redraw applies to all classes. For special events, the track may add more young fans to redraw additional positions. Drivers are encouraged to watch the redraw and take part with the young fans representing their positions.

The top two finishers in each heat and the top four finishers in the feature must report to the scales after the race. Cars should enter from the backstretch before Turn 3.

Pit passes are $40 for adults, $25 for kids ages 6–10, and free for children 5 and under.

Fuel 110 is available on site.

Drivers must register with I-35 Speedway through MyRacePass or bring a completed registration form from the speedway website. A one-night temporary registration is available for $15.

USRA class participants must be registered with USRA. One-night temporary licenses are available at the track for $10. Alternative USRA B-Mod rules apply.

The resume must be attached to the Minor’s Release, and both parents must provide notarized signatures. Notary services are available on site.
