Wild West Shootout Guarantees $1,000-To-Start for Super Late Model Features

CASA GRANDE, Ariz. (Sep. 9, 2026)—Following the announcement of the $50,000-to-win finale for 2027, the Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout presented by O’Reilly Auto Parts is also proud to announce that this year’s event will pay a minimum of $1,000-to-start in every Super Late Model feature event. The increased start pay raises the minimum from $600 to $1,000 for each of the six Super Late Model races scheduled.

“We are always trying to up our game,” said promoter Chris Kearns. “We want to make the Wild West Shootout a better event every year we come to Arizona. Our goal is to give back as much as we can to the racers who make the trek out here.”

All six Super Late Model events contested during the 2027 Wild West Shootout will now pay $1,000-to-start for a 24-car starting field. While the Super Late Model opener and finale have historically paid $1,000-to-start, the four additional events in between will now also pay $1,000-to-start. This marks an increase from $600-to-start in previous years.

The announcement comes shortly after the news that the 2027 Super Late Model finale of the Wild West Shootout will pay $50,000 to the victor courtesy of Rio Grande Waste Services. Including the lap money, the finale could potentially pay $75,000 to the winner if a driver were to lead every lap of the main event, while second place will pay $25,000 to the runner-up. The miniseries opening night could also pay a possible $50,000 to the winner, including the lap money.

Kearns added, “When Larry Henk of Rio Grande Waste Services decided he wanted to boost the finale’s payout to $50,000-to-win, it motivated us to also increase the starting pay for the 2027 event. The purse increases aim to not only help the winners of the races, but also the racers toward the back of the Super Late Model main events.”

The 2027 race dates are slated for January 9, 10, 13, 15, 16, and 17. The opening round pays $25,000-to-win, followed by four $10,000-to-win events before culminating with a $50,000-to-win payday in the Wild West Shootout finale. Practice nights are scheduled for January 8 and 12.
