What a way to end the last day of Summer!
It was the return of the ASCS 305 Winged Sprint Cars, and the start to three weekends in a row of Sprint Car action. The ASCS 305 Sprint Cars where joined by the USRA X-Mods, USRA Street Stocks, Casa Nissan Legends, and added to the schedule for a non points race was the Super Trucks after canceling the show in El Paso Speedway Park Friday night due to track conditions.
In the Super Truck action it was quick and smooth. Walton Kyle Sr who won the Dash for Cash presented by Klein Towing was trying to real in Kenny Alons for the lead. Kenny Alons would lead the truck field from flag to flag, and would win the main event.
Talk about teenagers, Joshua Jackson, and Luis Esquivel would battle for the lead. Joshua Jackson had a great run on the bottom of turn four at one point until Luis Esquivel gave Joshua a door! That would slow Joshua Jackson down and would finish second to Luis Esquivel in the Casa Nissan Legends of the Southwest.
Street Stock action was good, and bad depending who you go for. Noah Hollingshead who is really trying to get the Southern New Mexico Speedway track championship would run second until is motor blew up! Noah would come into this race ten points behind Justin Lasiter, but now with a bad result. Later in the main Jason Ziehl who had a fast car would pull it off right when we are going green due to a right rear flat tire. Later Brandon Cruse would cruse in the lead and would pick up his third win of the 2014 season. Brandon Cruse would join Noah Hollingshead, and Justin Lasiter as the only drivers to have three wins in the 2014 season.
The USRA X-Mod main was good, but in the points it wasn't for some. Paddy Rush came in as the points leader with Dickie Gorham holding on to second. Dickie is the only driver close enough to stop Paddy Rush from winning the championship. Well it didn't end up so good for Dickie Gorham. Dickie would end up in a pile up in turn four that evolved five cars, and a car ON TOP OF HIM! Dickie would continue with a highly damaged race car. Later his luck didn't get better as he got involved in another wreck! That would end his night early. The action on front was good as it was Michael Gonzalez, and Paddy Rush going at it for the lead until a caution would fly. At the restart Fito Gallardo was running third so he started behind Gonzalez, and next to Rush. Fito would wheel him self around both of them with no problems! Paddy Rush would manage to get around Mike Gonzalez for second and walk away with a bigger points lead as the season for the USRA X-Mods only has two races remaining! Fito Gallardo would win the X-mod main.
Talk about passing, and points! Your winner from two weeks ago Cesar Fuentes would have to start ninth. The only drivers that could win the championship are Kyle Sager, and Cesar Fuentes. Well it was a Kyle Sager show up on front, but Cesar Fuentes worked tonight! He passed eight cars to get to second! Cesar Fuentes just had trouble with slower cars on the track, and that would kill his time, but once he would get around slower traffic he would close the gap between him and Sager! At the end Kyle Sager had a strong straight away lead until Fuentes pulled up to second, because he was coming! Time would be against Cesar Fuentes, and Kyle Sager would win the main event to hold to the points lead at the Southern New Mexico Speedway!
Summer is over, and that means the season is about to end! Things are heating up, and drivers are desperate for a championship. Who will it be? Come out and join us for the rest of the season for a "Dynamite" Saturday night at the Southern New Mexico Speedway!
