Labor Day Weekend night #2 presented by Casa Nissan, and Casa Ford
A great night of racing, left the drivers, and fans satisfied. It was the return of the USRA Modifieds, Legends, Hornets, Street Stocks, and the USAC/NMMRA 360 Non-wing Wingless Warriors!
The USRA Street Stock action was intense, as it was a Jason Ziehl show. The battle on the track was for second with Justin Lasiter, and Jon McDaniel. Jon McDaniel would win that battle. Jason Ziehl who has been having so much problems while in the lead this whole season final redeems himself tonight as he wins the main event!
In the Legends it wasn't a teenager show this time. Dusty Riggs would split Luis Esquivel, and Joshua Jackson. Riggs and Jackson would go side by side for the lead. Riggs couldn't get around. Joshua Jackson would win the Legends main event after an upsetting second to Esquivel last weekend.
Our Modifieds where presented by Casa Nissan, Casa Ford, Gallardo Constitution, Biggin's Southwest, and Rick's Performance Center. The Modifieds went topples, for an $1,500.00 pay day!! It was a Gallardo show up on front until Jacob Gallardo, and Fito Gallardo over shot the corners! It was still a Gallardo show after that as Rick Gallardo would lead the way. Royal Jones would run runner up and would try to catch Gallardo. Royal had some good runes at times until he had company! "Knock, knock who's back" Fito Gallardo. Fito would run out of time and would finish second to his brother Rocko Gallardo! Rocko Gallardo would bank an $1,500.00 pay day!
It was short and quick for the Hornets. Benny Pena showing the way, with Ben Ives running second trying to catch him. Ben Ives wouldn't catch him, but the driver that was catching him was Larry Maag!! Maag was on the move. Time would run out and Benny Pena would win the Hornets, with Ben Ives second, and Larry Maag your top three.
It was time for the USAC/NMMRA 360 Non-wing Wingless Warriors! Thirty four Wingless Warriors checking in, twenty four cars started the A-main thanks to a Promoter's Option. Michael Curtis, and Rj Johnson in the front row. At the green Johnson drove to the lead. Nick Auito in 27 would go side by side with Tye Mihocko in 5 to try to hold on to second. Tye Mihocko would jump to second, Mike Martin would jump to third, Andy Reinbold would spin and his car would shut off. He couldn't continue. Rj Johnson was in trouble, because Tye Mihocko would catch up to him! Tye had a good run on the bottom and would give Rj a bump! Rj Johnson knew someone was knocking on the door so he would put a lap car between him and second. Johnson would win night number two of this Labor Day Weekend's return of the USAC/NMMRA 360 Non-wing Wingless Warriors!
All of us here at Southern New Mexico Speedway would like to thank for coming out, and hope to see you next weekend for the return of the ASCS 305 Sprint Cars!
