Champions are made
The season finale was a muddy blast! The final points race of the season for USRA Modifieds, Casa Nissan Legends, USRA Street Stocks, Slime Mini Sprints, and the Southwest Late Models was a good one.
In the Southwest Late Models Dave Deetz got to the lead and took off! He would lead by a half straightaway. Fourteen cars checked in, and Dave almost drove by all of them until a late caution came out with five laps remaining. That would glue your field back together. Scott Logston, and Rick Ortega would start right behind Deetz. At the restart Dave Deetz would just fly away and drive it to victory! Your 2014 Southwest Late Model track championship winner is Rick Ortega!
Just like the Late Models, the USRA Street Stocks was owned by Brandon Cruse! This main event though was caution free. Brandon Cruse just dominated the main from flag to flag, and Jon McDaniel is your 2014 USRA Street Stock track champion!
Luis Esquivel, and Gene McGarey, teammates! Those two drivers would square dance, and shuffle all over the place for the lead. Luis Esquivel would get around and launch away! He was gone and parked it in victory lane. Brady Labree is your 2014 Casa Nissan Legends of the Southwest track champion!
Seven cars, and one caution for the Slime Mini Sprints. Jerrad Warhurst and Jett Carney went side by side for the lead! It was a good battle for about two laps until Jerrad Warhurst got around and took off. Jerrad Warhurst would take the "W" and the 2014 El Paso Speedway Park track championship for the Slime Mini Sprints!
Welcome back the driver who had to have neck surgery, and had to be out of a race car for four months, and made the return tonight, Christy Georges! She won her heat race, and just dominated the Modified main event! She lead from flag to flag, and stayed strong through two restarts. Fito Gallardo needed all eighteen cars to start and Royal to be the first car out, and he needed to win. Well Rocko Gallardo didn't start the main, so automatically the 2014 track championship for the USRA Modifieds went to the #131 of Royal Jones!
A great season in the history books, and the fun is about to begin! Hope to see you all at the 2nd annual West Texas Shootout, the Lucas Oil ASCS 360 National Tour, and the Turkey Hunt!
