Champions are made
Talk about entertainment! The Onate Knight Marching Band was in the house pumping up the crowd, and the drivers continued to give the fans what their money was worth.
It was a Patrick Beach, and Lloyd Turner show in the USRA Street Stocks, those two drives went side by side on the final ten laps! Lloyd would have a good run exiting corners, and Patrick had a great car entering corners. Those two would share the lead, until Patrick Beach would take the checker flag first, but Lloyd Turner would take the hardware as Patrick Beach would get disqualified at tech. Lloyd Turner would tell the fans in his interview that he may of took the trophy, but that race was won by Patrick Beach.
Jarred Warhurst was trying to get the championship in the Smile Mini Sprints over Jeremy Stamper. Stamper came into this race three points behind Warhurst! It was do or die, who ever finished in front of who, would win. Well tonight Stamper did what he did two weeks ago, he dominated his heat race, and in the main he came up a little short. He would get third, and Warhurst would win it, and those two drivers worked their way to the front. Warhurst is your 2014 Mini Sprint track championship winner.
Talk about speed, Christy Georges had that in the Southwest Late Models, plus it was the girls showing the guys how it was done tonight. Mercedes Abercrombie and Christy Georges would run first and second. Christy had a straightaway lead until Abercrombie caught her. At the end it was a close race between both drivers. Mercedes tries the bottom and top, but couldn't get around, she came close on the bottom but just couldn't complete the pass. Christy Georges would win the Southwest Late Model main event.
Great Hornet action, Saul Delgado would show the way until Benny Pena would take it away, later a caution came out. On the restart Rudy Tarin Jr would drive that #28t to the front in no time. Saul Delgado jumped back to second. Ben Ives would win the track championship, and Rudy Tarin Jr picks up the win in the Hornets.
It was a caution fest in the USRA Modifieds, but all those cautions helped Jacob Gallardo to come from 16th to the top five, until he broke. Later Jimmy Ray would come to the front after starting 20th! Fito Gallardo trying to win the championship had no worries tonight, as he would lead the way and Royal had to beat him by a bunch! The best battle on the track was Rocko Gallardo and Dustin Smith for second. They would beat and bang on each other but they would race each other hard. Rocko got to finish second after starting 11th, Dustin Smith with an impressive third place, and Jimmy Ray to fourth after starting 20th. Fito Gallardo would win the 2014 track championship!!
The season isn't getting any longer! Come watch history with us as next week as it's our final points race!
