Ace Speedway Set to Open April 3rd

At 60 Years Young, Altamahaw, NC Track Continues to be a Fixture in Area Racing

Altamahaw, NC):  New names and new faces may have taken over the management of Ace Speedway but one thing remains the same.  No matter who drives the train, the racers and fans who have supported the track will continue to come out on Friday evenings to compete or watch for what may happen around the next turn.

“The little jewel of a “short” track has for years provided the area fans with some of the best racing around”, said new General Manager, Randy Myers who is overseeing the track for Bill Catania, the new lease owner at Ace.  “And there is no reason to expect anything less in 2015.  I have been coming to Ace for over 20 years either as a crew member or a fan and one thing hasn’t changed during that time.  The racers and fans here love this place.  The fan count may not be as big as a couple of other area tracks but the fans are just as dedicated to their favorite drivers as anywhere around”, Myers said.

The bi-weekly 2015 schedule will see few changes in the divisions running at the speedway.  The Late Model Stock Cars will still be the headliner with strong support from the Limited Late Models, Modifieds, Mini Stocks and Extremes.  Late Models will run a variety of event formats with the 2nd Annual “Rodney Cook Memorial” in May being the longest race of the season at 150 laps. The race honors the legacy of the popular racer who lost his battle with cancer.  There are four 100 lappers sprinkled in along with several 50 lap races and some “Twin 25”s” added to help spice up the action.  The other divisions will run a variety of distances as well. The “Sandy Edgley Memorial” for the Extremes will be their big show for the season.

There will also be two appearances by the KOMA Unwind Modified Madness tour and two Modified events for the “Madhouse Modifieds”.  One of those events will be with the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) which features the super-fast Super Late Models.  The Southern Ground Pounders will visit two times along with the Legendary Flat Head Fords.  The USAC Focus Midgets have four events on tap and a new “Street Modz” division will have five races on the schedule.

There are two double header weekends featuring Friday and Saturday night action.  Special pricing for those two-fer’s.  Details on events can be found at www.racetoace.com or by contacting the track at 336-270-3631.  Don’t miss opening night at Ace Speedway on Friday, April 3rd.
