Fuentes starts the Cinco de Mayo party!

The fans of West Texas were celebrating Cinco de Mayo early with a Cesar Fuentes victory Friday night at the "Park". The Border International Truck 305 Winged Sprint Cars opened their season along with the USRA X-Mods, and the Mini Sprints. Street Stocks would join the action.

Seventeen USRA X-Mods checked in for battle at the El Paso Speedway Park. Jimmy Ray who has won six of seven races with his X-Mod tried getting win number seven tonight. Jimmy Ray would win his heat race from flag to flag with no trouble. The main event was looking that way too, until on lap 5 his motor went sour on him. A puff of white smoke blew from that motor and would end his night fifteen laps shy to the checker flag. At the restart Christy Georges-Barnett would get the lead. John Carney Sr, and Sherman Barnett tried getting around her, but that Barnett Harley Davidson #44 stayed strong to win the opening night for the USRA X-Mods.

Seven cars was enough to put on one stellar show in the USRA Street Stock division. At the green Jason Josselyn broke away to a good lead until Todd Froats crashed his party on lap four. Froats went side by side door to door for the lead. After a lap Todd Froats was your new leader, BUT only for two laps as last week's winner Robert Vega showed up to the party and went THREE WIDE with Jason Josselyn, and Todd Froats for the lead. Robert Vegas pass was successful and would take control of the lead on lap six. Robert Vega would lead every lap after that with Todd Froats and Jason Josselyn going side by side for second the whole race. Later a caution flew for Jason Josselyn as he turned into a fireball out of turn two!! During that yellow flag Todd Froats also caught fire. Not once, but twice. Froats would get the black flag. After loosing Jason Josselyn, and Todd Froats officials made it a green, white, checker race with fifteen laps to go in what was supposed to be a twenty lap main. Robert Vega would win the USRA Street Stock main event win for the second weekend in a row!

Will Gonzalez was on the hammer tonight in the Mini Sprints. He lead from flag to flag with no trouble at all. Jett Carney ran second the whole race. The track was good but a little to fast for this field of cars to stay together. Will Gonzalez wins the 2015 Season Opener with the Mini Sprints.

Cesar Fuentes celebrates Cinco de Mayo early as he would catch Wes Wofford for the victory! Twenty five laps for the Border International Truck 305 Winged Sprint Cars went by super quick, as Wes Wofford would lead the way from the drop of the green. Cesar Fuentes would be second, Shawn Sander third, Lorne Wofford fourth, and Royal Jones fifth. The battle on the track was for fourth between Lorne Wofford and Royal Jones. That 131 made a risky move coming out of turn four to pass Lorne Wofford for fourth. The pass was successful. Later on lap eleven a caution flew for Don Reynolds off the pace. At the green Wes Wofford took off. With three laps to go Wofford had an amazing lead until the inner rocket ship came out of the 27 of Cesar Fuentes! Fuentes closed the huge gap that Wes had on him to lead the final two laps and would park that #27 in victory lane for the early Cinco de Mayo celebration!
