The second annual “Rodney Cook Memorial Race” is the next event on the Ace Speedway schedule. Set for Friday, May 15th, the event honors the career of Cook who was a mainstay at the track for many years. Cook, one of the most respected racers to grace the gates of the Altamahaw, NC speedplant, passed away in late 2013 after a battle with cancer. Previous management honored Rodney by dedicating the 2014 season to his memory including the first annual “Rodney Cook Memorial”, won by Justin Snow.
Snow is just one of several “Quality Collision Solutions” Late Model Stock Car drivers expected to return to Ace for the second annual event. Also expected are R.D. Smith, Barry Beggarly, Todd Massey, Thomas Scott, Dennis Holdren, Dean Fogleman, Jason York, Brad Kurth, Patrick Coleman and many more of the best Late Model Stock drivers in the area. Don’t miss this chance to see some of the area’s finest drivers competing for 140 laps honoring one of the toughest drivers to ever race at the speedway.
A full night of action is on tap with racing for the “Quick Cash Pawn” Limited Late Models, the “Adams Towing and Recovery” Modifieds, the “Builders Discount Center” Extremes and the Ace Mini Stocks.
As we continue to listen to the tracks fans and competitors comments on Ace Speedway, we want to announce that beginning with the second annual “Rodney Cook Memorial” on May 15th, if weather forces the cancelation of an event, we will make up that event the following Friday night.. The make-up events will feature the divisions scheduled on the rained out night unless the event had a traveling division that would be unable to compete in the make-up event.
We also are announcing that there will not be a regular Wednesday practice on the off-weeks. The track will continue be available for rental daily from 10:00 AM till 7:00 PM Monday through Friday and on Saturday from 10:00 AM through 5:00 PM. Please check with track operations to schedule any test sessions since there are some non-racing events taking place.
We are also announcing the return of an “open” test program on race day Fridays. Times are from 11:00 AM through 2:00 PM. Regular practice admission of $10.00 per person applies for this “open” test period.
