Kick It Sideways For the Final Time at The Park!
You wont be seein’ cars on this speedway for another six months after tonight so you better get ready for a show because it’s a full house tonight for the least race at the park for 2015! We run this NMMRA 360 Non-Wing Sprint car race for Josh Jackson who is rehabbing in Denver like the true champion he is! We miss your presence buddy and we are all #37STRONG right there with you.
Xmods headed your way to start the night for the final time in 2015 and we got 13 cars rollin out for 20 laps. The 14 Sergio Chao Sr. will lead lap 1 but the 47 Mingo Jauregui is in his doo and charging! 3 laps in and the 47 is going low but back in the pack the 612 goes up and over turn 1 into the signs. It’s Jose Signs into the signs over turn 1 and we have yellow as we pull him from the wall. Signs is ok but we can’t say so much for the signs… 612 is clear and we go back to racing for 17 laps with the 14 leading and Jimmy Ray inside row 2 ready to pounce. Jimmy ray drives that 9 machine off turn 4 quick as silver and to the lead he goes! 12 to go now and Jimmy Ray still leads but he has lappers in the way now and the 47 is back in this one. 1 lap of tuggin on the bumper of the 9 and the 47 looses a motor turn 1! That brings out the caution again. The 9 will drag us back with 11 to go. 3 more complete as Jimmy Ray searches for his own zip code but we have caution one more time for the 747 slamming the front stretch wall. Great restart 9 but its Paddy Rush zooming into second!! All Paddy Rush had to f=do to win the track championship for 2015 was start this w=race so he has already gotten that done! Just as we say that it’s the 52 Paddy Rush slow into turn 1 and stopping! The 52 goes to the hook but he is still going to win the Xmod championship! Caution with Jimmy Ray still leading but John Carney Sr. back into second. Jimmy Ray take us to the stripe with 7C chasing and only 5 to go. Clean restart again and Jammin Jimmy Ray is definitely Jammin tonight! 2 laps to go and it looks like Jimmy Ray has got this race in the bag. At the checkered flag, your final Xmod winner for 2015 at The Park is the 9 of Jammin Jimmy Ray! John Carney Sr. comes home in second with a strong push. However, the big winner on the night, and for the second year in a row your Xmod Track Champion is Paddy Rush in 52!
Street Stocks coming out now and we got 20 laps of 16 cars goin toe-to-toe for the title fight of their lives! It’s a clean start but look out for the 74J as he is on a mission right now! 2 laps in and Josselyn to the lead with 44JT Jaime Torres not far behind! 3 complete and caution for the 29 spinning the 17. 74J drags us back with 44JT outside row 2. Great restart for the front two and away they go from the pack. 15 to go and the 44JT is on the bumper but loosing ground every time out of turn 2. 11 to go at the stripe Josselyn has gapped himself from the 44JT but lappers are going to put a damper on that party real quick. The 74J will clear the lappers but 7 to go and the 17 will get into the 74J who was lapping him in the lead!! The 44JT capitalizes and to the lead he goes closing that ground quickly! Flat right front for the 74J and he will have 3 minutes to fix that tire as we go yellow. The 74J rejoins the field just in time but will go to the rear. A rocket restart for the 44JT! 5 to go and the 13 Victor Colorbio into second but trailing him like a missile is the L750 of Todd Froats who got his first win last weekend right here at The Park. 3 to go and the 13 stumbles and its Todd Froats fast into second! Colorbio with trouble now and he will slide through the field in the wrong direction with 2 to go. The L750 might be in second but its Jaime Torres way up in the lead as he takes the white. Jaime Torres winning the final USRA Street Stock race of 2015 here by s full straight over the L750 of Todd Froats who has had another great run. The 327 of Robert Vega will drive low into turn 3 and pass at least two cars to come home in fourth! Vega with that incredible move there and he will be your 2015 Street Stock champion by 11 points over Froats!!
Mini Sprints like a swarm of bees on track now for 12 laps. Emily Haley ran strong on the heats and she will start on the pole tonight! The 11T of Theron Flack is quick around the outside and he will lead lap 1. 2 laps in and the 25 AJ Marquez into second with the 1 following him around the 22E. Half way home with 6 to go and Will Gonzalez is the fastest in third but cant make anything stick to get the pass on the 25. 3 to go and Flack leads the 25 and 1 by only 4 lengths but they are closing very quickly! 2 to go and the 25 low down the backstretch and into turn 3 it’s a great move from Marquez and he will be the leader at the white flag!! AJ Marquez will lead the only lap that matters and take the final Mini Sprint win for 2015! Theron Flack holds onto second. Will Gonzalez in third will hold on and be your 2015 Mini Sprint Track Champion!!
Yall better be up and ready because it NMMRA 360 Non-Wing Sprint Car racing for the final time in 2015! It’s a #37STRONG Special event as these guys run it for Josh Jackson! 15 cars for 25 laps and its about to get sideways for the final time! Jesse Baker loosing his car before they even go green and it’s the 20Z to the lead quickly! 1 in and Rick Ziehl has got the @0Z wound up to the max but big caution turn 1. The 73 is rolling over the berm! The 73 is done tumbling but before the dust has even settled the 11W is barrel rolling through turn 2 after some heavy contact. Immediate red flag but everyone is ok! Just some trashed racecars and bruised pride but we go back to green flag racing here quickly. Ziehl takes the green with 7m and 74 row 2. The 74 of Hodges into second on the restart but major front end trouble for him and he is going nowhere but backward! 3 more complete and the 74 is calling it a night as that front end gives out on the front stretch. That’ll bring out a quick yellow and we stack emm back together. 20 to go now and it’s the 51 into second as he and the 20Z look to put some distance on the field tonight. 51 of RJ Johnson is in striking distance with 18 to go but there is a reason they call him the Real Deal Rick Ziehl and that’s because this pass wont be easy to make! 15 to go and the leader catching lappers now. Ziehl cuts the lappers like a hot knife through warm bread but RJ Johnson is there again! 13 to go and the 51 will get into the 20Z hard into turn 3! Little rough there as both drivers loose all their momentum but back on the gas almost instantly and it’s the 51 to the lead! Ziehl not going to like that and he is charging. 8 to go and Ziehl is back to battle!! Ziehl will ride the bumper of RJ for a few laps but RJ gaining a gear and he is shooting away with 4 to go. 2 to go at the line and the 51 has gained almost a full straight away over the 20Z in just two laps! All the action is now happening in front of the Leader as 4 cars battle for fourth place! That’s right, RJ Johnson has lapped into the top 5 with still 1 lap to go! The lappers clear for the leaders and out of turn 4, for the very last race of the night, on the very last race of the season it will be RJ Johnson in 51 taking the big win for the NMMRA 360 Non-Wing Sprint Cars!!! The 20Z of Rick Ziehl will settle for second after that bumpin hot race. Big surprise is the rookie; 56W of Spencer Hill breaking into the podium with a third place finish tonight!
RJ was calm and Collected after the race but you better believe he was happy to talk about this outstanding win.
How was the track out there tonight and how did the car handle on it? “The top of the track was good but that was where the lapped cars really wanted to run so I was going low and that started working really well so I just stayed there and held on. The car was off the wall good tonight and we really hit the setup. I feel good driving the car and winning always makes a good race better.”
Will we be seeing you for the Richard Griffin Classic?
“Ya I will definitely be here. This isn’t the regular car so when we come for the Richard Griffin we will be in the 77. We actually didn’t decide to run this car until Tuesday because it’s normally my 410 car. Glad we did but ill be happy to jump back in that other when the Classic roles around”
