Wofford Wins with Highside Hustle

Border International truck 305 Winged Sprint cars would make dust for the first time in 2016 at Western Tech Speedway Park. It was a highflying wing back type of night and the drivers did not disappoint. The super trucks, Xmods and USRA Street stocks would slide onto the track tonight as well.

Super trucks would start out the night with Sherman Barnett on the pole in the 82. Sherm would shoot to the lead out of turn 4 but Jaime Bejerano 501 into second. The 44L of Ismael Garcia was charging hard and coming quick. The 501 would get a little high coming out of two and 5 laps into the 20 lapper the 44L could slide himself into second. With 10 in and 10 to go the 82 would clear a couple lappers to open the track back up but the 44L making up some good ground there. Christie Georges Barnett into 4th on lap 14. More lapped cars coming up quick for the 82 and not gonna be as smooth this time by. 15 in with 5 to go and the Sherminator with big problems from the lapped cars. The 44L straight to the outside and to the lead as they cross the line with 4 to go! The 44L would go way out after that and never look back. The last 4 laps go to the 44L of Ismael Garcia and the win is his! The 82 of Sherman Barnett got hung up with the lapped cars there but second will have to do tonight. Third goes to the 501 who worked his way back.

Sun Valley Hardware USRA Street Stocks will give it a go second tonight with 15 laps ready to be run. The 11v would start on the pole but an electric start from the 44JT of Jaime Torres would solidify that as Jaime went straight to the lead. The 13 of Victor Colorbio would take a couple laps to move his way up the field but making moves. The 21z of Martin Robinson attached to the bumper of the 13 and here they would come after 7. The 17 of Mijares was sitting pretty in second but not catching the 44JT who was putting on a clinic tonight. Caution with 9 to go would end the lead that Torres had built as the field would re-bunch. The 17 would still be in second on the restart but a couple warnings from track crews to not jump the start and he would loose a row. The 21z would no be to the inside of the 13 Colorbio with the 17 inside row 3. The 21z of Robinson straight into second over the 13. The 13 would give him a good run for second but no cigar. The 44jt pulled away again as those two battled for second. As the checkered flew, for the third time in a row it was the 44JT of Jaime Torres taking the win again! The 21z of Robinson was closing at the end but no cigar in that one but second will do tonight.

Xmods would lay down some heated laps tonight as they went for 20 laps. The 14 Sergio Chow would go to the lead early but not for long. Lap 2 he would get loose out of turn 4 and the 52tx of Paddy Rush would not be denied. The 52 looking to get a stretch but not tonight because caution would fly for the 18jr and 3H into turn 4 wall hard. The 18jr done but Noah Hollingshead would continue even though the car was pulling right. The restart looked to be clean but then they would get on the gas and big trouble throughout the field. The 07,38, 47 and 2 would all go around. The blame falling on the 9 of Jimmy Ray for piling those cars up and they all go to the rear. The 612 would lead that lap just before the yellow comes out. The 52tx in second but ready to move. Trouble for the 612 and the 52tx into the lead. The 07 of Donovan Flores and the 7c Carney would go to battle with the 52tx now and it wouldn’t be long before the 07 capitalized on a slip from the 52 for the lead around the outside! After that pass it was a caution filed mess. The 9 of Jimmy Ray would slide his way into the lead for a few laps near the end but to no avail because after too many cautions this race would be called to an end with the 07 of Fireball Donovan Flores winning it under default!! The 9 of Jammin Jimmy Ray has to settle for a second as the 52tx of Paddy Rush holds onto a third.

Its finally time. What the people come for and why they stay. Its Sprint car time! The 9 of Robert Herrera lead lap one but it was a battle as the 40x of Don Grable wasn’t gonna let him out of his sights that easy. The 19 would charge to second from outside row 3 after one and the 19 of chargin' Wes Wofford was coming for the lead. One more trip around and the 19 shoots to the lead on the highs side hustle way outside!! Just as the leaders cross for that lap the caution comes out for the 77 b up and over turn 3. The 19 Starts on the front all alone with the 9 and 40x sitting in row 2. Clean restart and it’s the 27 of Cesar Fuentes shooting into second. Fuentes to give Wofford a run for the money for a few laps but nothing will stick and the 19 pulling away again. The 40 of Grable would get it back up and moving to battle the 27 for second and after a few laps o that the 40x would have it. The 18 of Lorne Wofford would also go by but it was back and fourth between those three for the rest of the night. The outside really coming in on turn 1 but the bottom looking smoother down in turn 3. Wes Wofford pulling away after 15 with 10 to go but second is up in the air as the 18 Lorne Wofford, 40x Don Grable and 27 of Cesar Fuentes all trade a little paint. Cesar Fuentes would solidify second with 5 to go but no room to get to the 19 tonight. The 19 of Wes Wofford would never look back and with a smooth high side hustle from 6th to the lead in 1 lap and from that one lap to lap 25 it was all Wes Wofford in 19 tonight. The 27 Cesar Fuentes Holds off a late charge from the 18 to grab second and the 18 of Lorne Wofford settling into third tonight after a late run for the podium.
