Jake Gallardo Wins 'Em Both
It’s the Salute to Indy at the Park! We had free Active Military tonight as we say thank you for everything you do for us. It was 1,000$ to win in the late models and the modifieds so Big car counts in both those classes lead to some spectacular racing.
Sun Valley Hardware USRA Street Stocks took to the track first with Last weeks winner Jaime Torres in the 44JT leading the way quickly and swiftly. The 74 of Jason Josselyn and the 13 of Victor Colorbio would have a solid battle for second as the 44JT pulled away. Josselyn and Colorbio back and forth more than a few times but 10 into the 15-lap feature Josselyn would not be denied. He was chasing the 44JT down at the end but to no avail because when the checkered flag waved it was the 44Jt of Jaime Torres winning it for the third weekend in a row. Jason Josselyn With a strong second place finish and Victor Colorbio rounding out the top 3.

The Southwest Late models rolled out next for 25 laps as a packed class raced for 1,000 Dollars to win! The 911 of Cliff Hansen started on the pole and lead lap one but the 44 OF Christie Barnett was charging' fast. After one the eventual leader of this race, the J17 of Jake Gallardo would spin out from the rear of the pack bringing out the yellow. The field would g back racing with the 44 of Barnett getting to the lead for a few laps in there. The G17 of Fito Gallardo also closing hard as the track went to a dry slick and quick. A couple more caution in this one would require a 5 lap drop but it didn’t affect Fito Gallardo who shot to the lead after the 44 encountered some mechanical issues. The cautions allowed the J17 of Jake to move way back through the field to challenge for the lead with 10 to go. The J17 would make quick work of his dad to the inside and never look back. After crashing on lap 2, it was Jake Gallardo taking the checkered flag first for the Southwest Late Models! Fito Gallardo held onto a solid second place as the 22 of Jonathan Ortega slid his way into 3rd with the 29 of Mercedes Abercrombie clinging to 4th.

The Legends had some hustle tonight as they went a full 20 laps. The 41z of Chris Smith started outside row 1 and led for quite awhile after fighting off many advances from the field. A red flag for a car over turn 2 would stop the field for a few moments but back to racing the 41z of Smith was away again. Unfortunately for Smith it would only be 3 laps later, with 14 to go when the 41z would do the same thing as the 9 had done and put it straight into the wall in turn 1. Chris Smith would continue but only to limp it around. Up front after that was the 1x of Tom Zuloaga and 902 of Mike Zuloaga who had been back and forth all night long for the top positions. It would go all the way down to the wire with the Ak-47 of Jesse Esquivel trying to hold off the entire field for second. Esquivel couldn’t block the whole way though and the 902 would slide around. As they came out of turn 4 for the last time the 902 got a little loose and out of nowhere, coming off a hard charge, was the 237 of Steven “Scuba” Arellano leading at the stripe! The 237 stealing that win right away from the 902 tonight and that one will sting. Mike Zuloaga in that 902 for second and Gunner Harris rounding out a top 3!

Well it was that time again at the Western Tech Speedway Park. The reason you come and the reason you stay, it’s modified time! The 111 of Bumper Jones started inside row 2 but wasted absolutely no time going to the lead! The 111 leading lap 1 without a problem and away he went. Back in 4th it was the J17 of Jake Gallardo trying to make moves and sticking it high and low. The J17 would waste some laps trying to get around the 9 of Jimmy Ray who started outside row 2 but once that was complete the mission was on for the lead. The J17 was consistently faster than the 111 but faster doesn’t mean leader and the 11 held on strong for 10 laps. ON lap 11 the J17 finally made it down low underneath the 11 and the show as on. Jake Gallardo would never look back and after a clean 25 laps, become 1,000$ dollars richer! Phillip Houston in the 71 would be the nights hard charger as he gained some serious momentum at the end of this one to move from 8th all the way to second. That 71 grabbing some gears and traction there at the end to get the job done tonight. Bumper Jones held onto a third place finish tonight after leading some laps and looking strong.
