The meanest men on dirt do battle as USAC faces the NMMRA

Its USAC time! The boys showed up and they left their wings at home! The USAC Non wing sprints take on the NMMRA non-wings in the battle of the beasts. A total of 29 sprints checked in and the field was packed. The USRA Sun Valley Hardware Street Stocks, USRA Xmods, super trucks, and Casa Nissan Legends also joined the pack as we started out hot and heavy.

In the super trucks it was the 44 of Christie Georges Barnett who to not be denied another victory on the season. It took her some laps but 8 into the 15 lapper and the 44 would go right underneath the 01 of Dave Deetz for the lead. Deetz would loose the nose on his truck in the process but racing continued and the battle was on. The 501 of Jaime Bejerano would get around the 01 for second but never having a clean shot at the 44. As the checkered waved it was Christie Georges Barnett in 44 taking home the cash. The 501 Jaime Bejerano was second and the 01 of Deetz was third.

In the USRA Sun Valley Hardware Street Stocks the 44JT Jaime Torres was racing for his 4th straight victory and second straight here at the park but the 74 of Jason Josselyn had a little trick up the ole sleeve. The 74 ran a smooth race and after starting ninth would waste almost no time getting to the front on the outside. The 17 of Chris Mijares would put up a good fight for the lead for more than a few laps but Josselyn would power out of 4 and steal it away. Josselyn never looked back after taking the lead inside of 10 to in the 15 and winning for the first time in 2016 at The Western Tech Speedway Park was the 74 of Jason Josselyn. The 44JT of Jaime Torres started in the tail of the field as well with the 74 but after trouble with a slower car Torres never could get the momentum going to catch the 74. Second for Torres as the streak came to an end. The 17 of Chris Mijares held onto a third after a rough couple laps and led some good ones but third would have to do.

With the Jack Key Nissan Xmods it was Jammin Jimmy Ray in 9 who wasn’t to be denied the points tonight. Jimmy Ray bid his time wisely and when the opening appeared he threaded the needle just right and shot to the front. After starting in 11th Jimmy Ray was also the biggest mover in this race. The 82 of Sherman Barnett ran up front all night long and just fell a little short at the line but a great run for the Sherminator. The 52TX of Paddy Rush was up to battle for the lead quickly but after his line went away never could get anywhere far for long. The 52tx had second for a bit but when the checkered dropped he fell to the 82 and third was where he stood.

Only 11 drivers in the legends main feature meant less laps then normal for these guys but for the 9 of Tyler Beiter it didn’t matter. After going airborne last weekend over turn 1, Tyler was back and ready to get that 9 machine hooked up moving. That’s exactly what he did as he fought off a hard charging field of the Esquivel’s and Zuloaga’s. The 37A of Alex Esquivel was in the hunt until the very end has he would cross in second. The 1x of Tom Zuloaga moved his way through a quick field into third after the 15 laps but after starting in 7th it wasn’t an easy trip around. With 3 left on the ticker he would try and make a move but nothing would stick and third was as far as he could go. The first to the checkered though and the man with a plan tonight was the 9 of Tyler Beiter.

It was finally time. Time for the Non wing sprint cars to give it 30 laps around the park as 24 drivers made the final call after an intense B main. The 19W of Wes Wofford started on the pole and would run there for a while as a few early cautions kept things interesting. The 19W would get a little tight up high and with a field like we had tonight the door couldn’t be closed back quick enough. The 21az Stevie Sussex would go straight to the front and never look back. The 50 of Charles Davis Jr was comin quick as he powered his 36 machine to the inside line of the field but the track was working in nice all the way around. Three-wide for the top 5 for more than a few turns would make it a great spectacle but threading the needle the 77m of RJ Jonson on the move from deep in the pack. A late Red flag would bunch the field together for a green white checkered but with a single file restart it was not much hope the field because Stevie Sussex was checking out and gone. Moving his way into second and on a mission was the 20 of Shon Deskins! Deskins makin a great move at the end to slide his way in front of The 50 of Charles Davis Jr who was on a move and going three wheelin but tonight just wasn’t the night and third will have to do as he holds off a hard chargin77m of R.J Johnson who started way back. Great finish in this one, as it was three wide battles deep through the field.

If you missed this great battle in the desert then do not miss out tomorrow night as we head The Southern New Mexico Speedway for some more great Non-Wing 360 Sprint car action!! The meanest men on dirt will be putting the rubber to the ground starting promptly at 7:45! Gates will open at 5:30. If you cant make it to The Southern New Mexico tomorrow then we will see you next weekend as the USRA Modifieds come back to town.
