Gallardo Brings A-Game
Another night of racing at Western Tech Speedway Park and it was set to be a good one as the USRA Modifieds invaded. The Jack Key Nissan Xmods, SunValley Hardware USRA street stocks, Casa Nissan Legends, and the Claimers also joined the fun tonight as we tick down the races left this season.
Up first was the Jack Key Nissan Xmods and boy did they bring the heat quickly. It was only 15 laps tonight but the 7c of John Carney Sr wasted no time getting to the front on just the second lap. The 47 of Mingo was on him for the next two laps but that wouldn't last long because with 10 to go the 7c was pulling away. Half way there with only 8 to go and the 9 of Jimmy Ray was all over the 52tx of Paddy Rush for third. The field closing slightly on the 7c and out of turn 4 the 7c would spin it around!!! John Carney Sr spinning all alone there after leading the previous 6 laps. The 9 also spinning before the yellow comes out so both drivers will have to join the tail of the field. The 9 would go to the back but Carney would call it a night. Mingo Jauregui in the 47 now inherits the lead but bad news because the 52tx of Paddy Rush is the reigning track champ and he sits in second. As the green flag dropped the 52tx would go right to work for the lead. Jauregui holding off with 5 to go but it hasn't been easy. Only 4 circuits left on the ticker and the 9 of Jimmy Ray back into 3rd! Down to 3 to go and the 52tx finally makes his move at the line. Paddy Rush steals the lead right away from the 47 with 3 to go! The 52tx would drive the remaining two laps clean as usual and take a win at the Western Tech Speedway Park in 2016! The 47 of Mingo Jauregui holds on to second and the 9 of Jimmy Ray gets it back together into third.
Next on track was the USRA SunValley Hardware Street Stocks. It was only gonna be 15 laps in this one tonight as well but not without some crazy turn of events. The 29c of Dylan Cain would lead the 29 of Ted Cain on lap 1 and it was a good family affair for the first couple of laps. The 13 of Victor Colorbio was on a charge early to battle. Colorbio wouldn't wait long to move into second but 3 in and the 29 Ted would spin after regaining second spot. The 29c would now lead the 13 and 44JT of Jamie Torres. A clean restart but coming out of turn 4 the 29c spins all alone right in front of the field! Nobody has anywhere to go and the 29c taking a hard lick in the nose from the 05 of Flores. A hard hit there and both drivers done for the night. The 13 now leads the 44JT, 00ET Ed Engel and the 38 of Garret Sterns who has worked his way from way back. As soon as the green flag dropped the 44JT would start to make the low line come around. Only 8 to go and the 44Jt would switch things up and go to the high side. The high side the place to be and Jaime Torres would steal the lead away from the 13 as clean as could be. The 13 not done yet and they go back and forth multiple times. Still 5 laps left on the board and the 13 slides low through 3&4!! Won't happen that time but sweet move from Colorbio there. Victor Colorbio would never be more than 3 lengths back in this one but tonight not the night as Jaime Torres gets back on top of the box once again in 44JT. Victor Colorbio was strong tonight but second will have to do and the 38 of Stern funds out the podium.
Claimers would be a quick race tonight as only 2 cars showed up for 8 laps. The 13 of Jannah Gibson would step out front early after a rough heat race but even though she was way ahead it wouldn't matter because 4 in with 4 to go she would break down the back stretch and go spinning into turn 3. Her night would be over and with only 1 car left on track the win would go to the 1x of Jordan Kimpel who won the heat race also.
Casa Nissan Legend cars would bring a little more excitement to the track tonight as they went 15 laps for all the glory. The 7 of Jesse Esquivel would lead lap 1 but the 902 of Mike Zuloaga would go to work early on him. Only took Zuloaga 3 laps to maneuver that machine into the lead and he wouldn't be an easy man to pass tonight. The 46 of Rick fits water and the 13 of Kyle McCutcheon both following the 902 around with 12 to go. Futz water almost looping it in turn 4 but saving it and falling way back. McCutcheon into second after that and he will run away with the 902. It's the magic 8 to go tonight because once again a lead change with 8 to go. The 13 going right around the 902 in that one and getting away clean now. As the 13 pulled away the 237 of Steven Arellano would move his way into third and head straight for the 902!! As the laps counted down it would be the 13 Kyle McCutcheon once again ending up in victory lane in the Casa Nissan legends cars. The 902 of Mike Zuloaga would hold into a strong second and the 237 of Arellano rounds it up in third.
The track was coming sound and that USRA Dirt Modifieds where chomping at the bit to have a little fun. A full 25 laps for the monsters of dirt tonight and the J17 of Jacob Gallardo would go way out to the front from the pole and the 9 of Jimmy Ray was left to deal with a charging G17 Fito Gallardo. After a clean 5 laps the J17 would be way ahead but a caution would fly for the 44 and the field was rebunched together. Trouble on the restart would mean that we try again and this time it's clean. The J17 away again but this time the G17 into second with 19 laps to go! The 9 would shoot back into second but here comes the 131 to make things interesting! J17 pulling away as the 9 holds off the G17 and 131 of Jones. Only 10 laps left and the 9 not closing on the J17 as he slices and dices through lapped traffic like a champ. Jake Gallardo was untouchable in this one but the battle for second never got dull. Still 6 circuits left and the G17 would be so close to the 9 he could reach out and touch him. G17 finally getting under the 9 for second with only 2 to go!! The bottom holding for now and G17 chasing after his son. White flag in the air and this one would be all over. Bringing his A-Game tonight and going flag to flag once again, is Jacob Gallardo in J17!! The G17 with one of the toughest battles yet this season as he fights around Jimmy Ray for second. The 9 of Jimmy Ray would round out the top 3 and the 131 Royal Jones comes home in 4th.
If you missed the fun tonight then don't miss the big sprint car show next weekend as the ASCS 360 Winged Sprints bring horsepower and adrenaline for your viewing pleasure. The gates open at 5:30 with racing promptly at 7:45. Don't be late and don't miss out!
