Carney Caps ASCS at Western Tech
The time has finally come at Western Tech Speedway Park! The ASCs 360 Winged Sprints have arrived in mass quantity and things are about to get slideways! The Super trucks, Jack Key Nissan Xmods, USRA Sun Valley Hardware Street Stocks, and Shaw Trucking Southwest Late Models also joining forces tonight to make it one wild show.
The Super trucks took to the track first tonight for 15 laps and it was the 98 of Rusty Bowen leading lap one quickly. It would take the 44 of Christie Barnett 5 laps to move into second around the 501 of Jaime Bejerano who put up a battle. Bejerano never gave up and with 9 to go the top 3 would go three wide for third! Bowen holding off the 44 and 501 for now but it’s a duel to the death in this one. Christie would look low once more coming out of turn 4 and at the line for 7 to go it’s the 44 of Christie Georges Barnett stealing the lead away. The 44 would run away with it after that but the 501 was all over the 98 to make things interesting. Bejerano would go door to door with Bejerano more than one time in this one but as the checkered flag waved it was the 44 of Christie Barnett winning by a long shot. The 98 of Rusty Bowen held of a hard charging 501 for second and Jaime Bejerano brings the 501 across the line in third.
Sun Valley Hardware Street stocks would do 15 laps of battle tonight as well with the finish going all the way down to the wire tonight. The 11 of Cliff Everage would lead the opening laps but 44Jt of Jaime Torres was all over him quickly. Only 3 laps complete and the 44JT jumping into the lead into turn 3 as he drives under the 11. Torres would try to pull away but not for long because the 13 of Victor Colorbio would make quick work of the 11 and head straight for the lead. With 5 complete and 10 to go the 13 was there to challenge for the lead. Torres and Colorbio would go back and forth for the next 5 laps with Torres holding every time at the stripe but 5 to go and the 44JT high in turn 4! The door wide open for the 13 and Colorbio takes it right away. A late race caution would shake things up just enough as the 13 tried to escape the clutches of the 44Jt but ultimately the caution would have no effect because when the checkered flag waved it was the 13 of Victor Colorbio taking yet another big win in the Street Stocks. The 29 of Ted Cain would slide his way into second after the 44Tj had trouble on the restart and it was Jaime Torres rounding out the podium in 44JT.
Victor Colorbio won the Sun Valley Hardware Street Stock feature.
Shaw Trucking Southwest Late Models would have a full 20 laps tonight and it was the 24 of Ortega leading early but the 357 of Oscar Perez only took 4 laps to get him back and start to run away with it! After 8 laps with 12 to go the 357 was finding his own zip code but the 22 of Jonathan Ortega was all the way into second and on the move. With only 8 laps left Perez was a full straight ahead of the 22 and looking to stay that way but 7 to go the caution would wave. A great restart for the 22 would put an Ortega back up front and keep it that way. The 22 would check out but the battle for second was just heating up with 3 to go. The 357 would hold of a hard charging Christie Barnett in 44 all the way down to the wire. The 22 of Jonathan Ortega ran away with this one and the 357 of Oscar Perez with a solid second place tonight. The 44 of Christie Barnett charges p to third late in this one.
Jonathan Ortega won the Shaw Trucking Southwest Late Model feature.
Jack Key Nissan Xmods also going to have 20 laps tonight as this one got wild quick. The front row would spin out on the first two attempts at a start but the 612 of Jose Saenz finally getting a lap complete as the leader. The 52tx of Paddy Rush would be all over the 612 quickly in this one and it didn’t take long before Rush looked low and stole the show. With 5 complete and 15 to go Paddy Rush now with a clear track up front. The real battle would take place at third place as they went three wide for third! The 47 holding off the 9 of Jimmy Ray for now. Halfway there and halfway home the 9 all over the 612 for second and finally making it stick. The 9 would head straight for the bumper of the 52tx in the next 3 laps but the 07 of Donovan Flores moving into third and headed straight for the 9 would keep things interesting. Only 5 laps left on the clock and the 9 was closing fast on the 52tx but it didn’t seem like it would be fast enough. The 7c of John Carney sr would also slide back into 3rd around the 07. The 52tx would catch lapped cars with 2 to go but it wouldn’t matter for him as he cut the field and used it to perfection. At the line it was the 52tx of Paddy Rush showing them how it’s done in the Xmods and taking the win. The 9 of Jammin Jimmy Ray charging to second tonight and the 7c of Carney slips his way back into the top 3.
Paddy Rush won the Jack Key Nissan X-Mod feature.
ASCS 360 Winged Sprint cars are some of the rowdiest racecars on dirt and tonight they invaded The Park with style! The 8 of Bob Ream Jr would lead early but the 74 of Hardy and 19 of Wofford where never far behind. Only 4 laps in and the battle for 4th was heating up as the 40x slid the 18 all the way to the top but Lorne Wofford taking it back solid into turn 3. The 224 of John Carney II would be the real interesting battle to watch tonight as he was already into 5th after 5 laps. The 8would pull away from the field early on but the 19 all over the 74 for second as they dueled it out. Carney into 4th after 8 laps but the 74 of Colton Hardy goes by the 8 for the lead with 16 to go! The 224 of an absolute rail as he gets underneath the 19 with 14 to go for third. The 19 around the 8 for third right away as the 224 chases down the 74. With 11 to go the caution would fly before the 224 could get around the 74. The 8 back in front of the 19 Wofford but 11 laps to go keeping things interesting. Single file restart in this one but the 224 wasting no time and John Carney sr goes to the lead with 10 to go! The 74 falling back from the 224 as Carney puts the hammer down but 19 all over the 74 for second. Best battle of the night between the 74 and 19 as they work the whole track to find the line. The 19 looks to the outside with 4 to go but it wont happen this time by. The 74 blocked the line just enough there to slow the 19 up. As they come to the line for 2 laps to go the 19 goes wide open outside, high side hustle and into second goes Wes Wofford! The 224 way to far ahead now but the 19 has to run a clean last lap to finish second because the 74 hasn’t given up yet. The 224 of John Carney sr wins this one in style as he pulled away from the field. The 19 of Wes Wofford a solid second tonight as he holds it wide to get the 74by a car length at the end. The 74 of Colton Hardy with a strong third place finish and the 18 of Lorne Wofford rounding out your top 4 in the ASCS 360 Winged Sprints!!
John Carney Sr. won the Carlyle ASCS Southwest Region Sprint Car feature.
