Fuentes Finds the Front

Its race night again at the Western Tech Speedway Park and the Border International Truck 305 winged sprint cars have come out to play! The Peter Piper Pizza Super trucks, USRA Sun Valley Hardware Street Stocks, Jack Key Nissan Xmods, and the Shaw Trucking Southwest Late Models also going to give it a whirl tonight as the track rolls in it and gets a little slidey.

The Peter Piper Pizza Super trucks would roll out first for the evening and it’s the 01 of Dr. Dave Deetz leads lap 1 with ease but the 44 of Christie Barnett moving through the field early and into second she goes after 1! It wouldn’t take Christie long to get on the bumper of Deetz and even though the 01 would lead lap 2 it was the 44 diving it into turn 1 and stealing the show! This would start Christie’s night atop the box, as she would never look back from that pass. The 01 would start to fall back and it was the 501 of Jaime Bejerano moving himself through the pack and into second with 8 to go. It wouldn’t be all smooth sailing for the 501 though as the 82 of Sherman Barnett was there to keep things interesting. The 82 would hold onto second for the remaining laps until white flag lap the 501 would dart to the inside down the backstretch and steal second away before they even got back to the checkered! Up front though it was the 44 of Christie Barnett starting her stellar night at The Park. We would see her again later in the Xmods and the Late Model mains. Second would go to the 501 of Jaime Bejerano as he stole it right away from the 82 Sherman Barnett who rounded out the top 3.

Sun Valley Hardware Street Stocks with a full 20 laps tonight and it was the 53 of Garret Sterns leading lap 1. Lap 2 would be different from the rest though because Jason Josselyn would come from 3 lengths back in turn 1 to take it three wide for the lead! The 74 was hooking and booking to the front in that one as a gutsy move there. A caution would come out after which is a tough break for the 74 who was trying to pull away up front. Rebunch the field and the 74 with a good start but the 44Jt of Jaime Torres all the way from the back to the lead. Torres on a rail as he heads for the bumper of the 74. Josselyn holding strong up front in the good air as he starts to pull from the 44Jt once again. The 13 of Victor Colorbio in third was headed right at the 44Jt but Torres must have felt him coming because back on the gas he got and cleanly away again. Josselyn looking to pull too far again this time but another yellow would cost him the gap yet again. On the restart things couldn’t go much better for the 44Jt who chose the inside lane in row 2. The 74 would get a little high as they entered one and Torres wasting no time and kicking the cracked door wide open! It would be a drag race down the back but Jaime Torres on the gas with a little better spin coming into turn 3 and the 44JT stealing the lead from the 74 who fought hard for that one. That would be the ball game as Jaime Torres didn’t hesitate one time in this one and took it to the house. The 74 of Josselyn would have a couple more chances with a yellow flag but never quite there to make it happen. The 74 with a ton of smoke at the end of this one but holding it wide open to hold of the 13 of Victor Colorbio charging hard. The 44JT of Jaime Torres with yet another win tonight though as he shows the power of the slider. Jason Josselyn happy to be in second after that smoke late in this one. Victor Colorbio rounding out your top 3.

Jack Key Nissan Xmods would give it a shot next and it was the 38 of Hector Prigione leading early in this one from the pole. The 3H of Noah Hollingshead and the 7c of John Carney Sr would be all over him quickly and lap 3 it was the 7c going outside turn 4 to steal the top spot away into turn 1. The 7c would try and steal the show but things being made difficult by cautions and the fact that the 3h of Hollingshead was all over him. The 44 of Christie Georges Barnett also on the move tonight as 8 into this 20 lapper she was on a grind to get the lead. Barnett making quick work of the 3h for second in that one. She was headed straight for the back of the 7c to battle for the lead but a caution would put her there anyways. The 9 of Jammin Jimmy ray was on a drive from the rear as he found himself in third before the restart. A clean restart would give the lead the to the 44 with 8 to go but things where far from over. The9 of Jimmy Ray was right on her quickly. A little car trouble for the 44 would cost her a two time win tonight as the 9 of Jimmy Ray taking full advantage and leading the last 4 laps to get a clean win tonight. Christie Georges Barnett would hold it together for a second place tonight in her first run in an Xmod this season. The 7c of John Carney sr bringing it home in third tonight.

Shaw Trucking Southwest Late Models had a full field of cars and a full circuit of laps as they rolled for 20. The 24 of Carlos Ahumada jr would lead the early laps but the 44 of Christie Georges Barnett just jumped out of her Xmod and into her Late Model and she would not be denied another win. She won the super trucks, second in the xmod and was looking for the win quickly again in this one. The 22 of Jonathan Ortega stood in her way of getting to the lead to play for the win but she would dolphin dive him and make it look easy as she headed for the bumper of the 24. It only took her 6 laps to get the 24 of Ahumada jr and then it only took her one more to take it to the top. After some bumping and banging Christie Barnett took her Late Model back to the top of the box tonight to almost clean sweep the night! The 22 of Jonathan Ortega was trying to hold onto the shoestring of the 44 at the end but could never get headed in that direction and second would have to do for the 22 of Jonathan Ortega. The 24 of Ahumada Jr with a solid third tonight after leading the first 6 laps.

Christie Georges-Barnett won the Shaw Trucking Southwest Late Model feature.

Its Border International Truck 305 winged Sprint Car time!! The boys of the dirt ready to rock and Roll tonight. It would be the Cesar Fuentes show from the get go as the 27 machine started on the pole and never left that position in 25 laps of action. The 77c of CJ Hulsey would challenge for some laps in second before relenting to the 40x of Don Grabble who was on rail in the last 10 laps and headed straight for the bumper of the 27. Cesar Fuentes fighting off many competitors and cutting through lapped traffic like butter tonight though as the 27 was back atop the box at the end of the night good run from Cesar and in second was the 40x of Don Grabble who was right on the bumper for the lead during the last 5 laps but just couldn’t quite get it done tonight. The 77c of Cj Hulsey had a super strong run tonight as well as he rounds out the top 3.

Cesar Fuentes won the Border International 305 Winged Sprint Car feature.
