Western Tech Speedway Park is glad you have joined us for the final 3! The final 3 races at the ole Park that is. Only two left after tonight but tonight was set to be a good one as all the drivers looking to take home the points and the wins while they still can. USRA Dirt Modifieds the main feature tonight but Jack Key Nissan Xmods, Sun Valley Hardware Street Stocks, Casa Nissan Legends and the Claimers have joined us as well. The field was set and the engines roared as the night got underway.

Jack Key Nissan Xmods were first on the track tonight and it was the 82 of Sherman Barnett leading the way early in this one. The field would go 3 wide back in the pack for top 5 into turn 1! The 2 of Jesse Haynie was into second after just 2 laps of the 15 lap main but the 9 of Jammin Jimmy Ray was not far behind. It would take Jimmy Ray only 5 more laps of work to get underneath the 2 and shoot into second. The 2 of Haynie right on him tight like glue though as they dove around the track trying to chase down the 82. With 9 in and 6 to go the 82 would get a little loose in turn 4 and here comes Jimmy Ray! The 9 would have it but the 82 laying down a crossover back to the lead down the back by a nose! Sherm wont have enough to hold the lead into turn 3 and the 9 of Jammin Jimmy Ray will lead with 5 to go. The next 3 laps would have Jimmy Ray trying to pull away as the 2 went to work on the 82. At the line with 2 to go Jesse Haynie would finally get around the 82 who was falling backwards as that car got tight. Haynie with mechanical issues on the last couple of laps and no time to chase down the 9. As the checkered flag waved it was the 9 of Jammin Jimmy Ray taking another win on the season. Jesse Haynie able to get that car back together on the last two laps and hold onto second. Into third though is the 52tx of Paddy Rush who was on the groove in the last 3 laps to steal the spot away right on the bumper of the 2.

Jimmy Ray won the Jack Key Nissan X-Mod feature.

USRA Sun Valley Hardware Street Stocks with a full 15 laps tonight as well but they weren’t gonna need it because it was the 44JT of Jaime Torres who would go straight to the front and never look back. The 11 of Cliff Everage putting up a good battle on lap 1 but 44JT Jaime Torres looking low side into one and the lead was his on lap 2. The 13 of Victor Colorbio was into 4th after just 2 laps but caution would fly as the 44JT pulled away already. The 711 of Troy Wells would shoot into second on the restart and give it everything he had to get around the 44JT for the next 12 laps. Another caution after 1 more complete would give the field one more chance to capitalize on the Jaime Torres show with 12 to go but nobody making a move and that would be “GAME OVER” because when the green flag dropped this time, Jaime Torres was like a bullet from a gun. As the 44JT was checked out the 13 of Colorbio would put on a good show with the 711 for second. With 10 complete and 5 to go Colorbio finally with enough drive to try the bottom but it would never work. Colorbio would wait one more lap and as the 44JT hit the line for 3 to go the 13 would shoot off turn 2 and look under the 711 for second one more time. Colorbio would loose a little time to Wells on that move and that would solidify that. As the 44JT of Jaime Torres was more than half a track ahead in this one he cruised it across the line for victory tonight. The 711 of Troy Wells doing an awesome job of fighting for second and the 13 of Victor Colorbio has to be happy with a third tonight.

Jaime Torres won the USRA Sun Valley Hardware Street Stock feature.

Casa Nissan Legends buzzing and banging to get out on the track now and 15 laps on the board for these guys. The 902 of Mike Zuloaga would drive his way to the lead on lap 1 but it didn’t take long for the McCutcheon to take. Kenny McCutcheon in the 2 machine would take it three wide into turn 1 on the second lap and as they exited turn 2 it was Kenny McCutcheon threading the needle to make it count for the lead! Zuloaga would try back under him but before the lap counted a caution would fly. The 2 leading the 902, 1x and 13k back to green. As the green flag dropped it was the McCutcheon, Zuloaga, Zuloaga, and McCutcheon show up top! The 13 of Kyle McCutcheon was pulling away with 9 to go but the 2 of Kenny was right back on the 902 and they would do battle for second! The 2 would come off turn 4 like a cat out of a bathtub and straight into second! With 7 to go the yellow would fly once again as the 2, 902 and 1x would now be right back on the 13k. Kenny McCutcheon getting shuffled back on this one as the Zuloaga brothers move their way into second and third but Kenny not done yet. The 13K trying to pull away again but this time the 2 going to the high side. Kenny, back into third as he works on the bumper of the 902. Mike Zuloaga holding his line steady but 6 to go and the yellow is out one more time. Kenny McCutcheon with problems under yellow and his night is done. Mike and Tom Zuloaga now sitting right on the bumper of Kyle McCutcheon as we go back racing. The last 5 laps would have Gunner Harris making a run at the top 3 but nowhere to move around tonight and not getting anything done. The 13k of Kyle McCutcheon winning this one clean and adding to the resume for the season! The 1x of Tom Zuloaga fighting off his brother for second and the 902 of Mike Zuloaga shooting into third. Gunner Harris brining home a top 4.

Kyle McCutcheon Casa Nissan Legends Car feature.

The claimer class had 10 laps tonight as 4 cars showed up to run. The R5 of Josh Reynolds holds off the 5 of Jesus Montelongo through the first 5 but Montelongo not giving up easily in this one! With 7 complete and 3 to go Montelongo would start to set him up and about to make things interesting. Reynolds holding strong all the way to the white but into turn one Montelongo with the exact drive he needed and steals the lead away! Jesus Montelongo would once again lead the only lap that mattered and steal a victory tonight. The R5 of Josh Reynolds would fall into second as the 13 of Jannah Josselyn back in third.

Jesus Montelongo won the Claimer feature.

It’s modified time!! Things would get off to a rough start in this one as a big spin in turn 2 would cause us to go red flag. A few drivers would have to call it a night before completing one lap but back racing we went. Donovan “Fireball” Flores was on a drive out of turn 4 for the restart and doing it once again on this complete restart. Flores would make it look easy tonight, as no more cautions would give him a clean track from the pole and a solid victory tonight. The 101 of Butch Reid held onto second for a long time in this one over the 44 of Barnett and the 9 of Jimmy Ray. Donovan Flores would get into lappers with 13 still left on the board but casually making his way through them to pull over a straight away ahead with 10 to go. The 101 of Butch Reid putting up the best fight against the 44and 9 who were digging deep to get into that second spot. With only 5 laps left to go Donovan Flores was a full half a track ahead but the 101 and 44 battling hard for second! With 4 to go the 9 finally getting a little traction out of turn 2 and Jimmy Ray into third over the 44. With 3 to go Donovan Flores was not to be stopped but the 9 all over the 101. Jimmy Ray taking it to the bottom in 3 and 4 to steal the second spot away from the 101! Christy Barnett tailing him to the bottom and she will get around the 101 as well! It would be an all out drag to the finish for the last 2 laps and Barnett had no option but the bottom to give Jimmy Ray a run. As the checkered flag dropped it was Donovan Fireball Flores leading every lap in this one and winning it by over half a track tonight! The 9 of Jammin Jimmy Ray was second and the 44 of Christy Barnett was third. The 101 of Butch Reid holds onto 4th after a strong run.

If you missed the action tonight then you only have two weekends left at Western Tech Speedway Park to get it done! You can also join us Saturday nights in Las Cruces at The Southern New Mexico Speedway! Tomorrow night, August 20th, we will be honoring Officer Chavez of the Hatch Police Department by welcoming all first responders in the gate completely free.
