Charlie Swartz slinging dirt at Springfield Mile 1983

The cars were extreme in every way: extreme looking with their high-rise plexi-glass side boards and extremely fast speeds. And there were few, if any, as extremely talented as the great Charlie Swartz. In this clip from the Springfield Mile in 1983, Swartz lays down a blistering qualifying lap with speeds reaching close to 160 mph. Photo credit: Craig Bontrager.
